Buddha’s Enlightenment Day
This event is part of the celebration of Buddha’s Enlightenment Day on 15th April. Since Prince Sidharta attained enlightenment some 2600 years ago when he became known as Buddha Shakyamuni, his teachings have helped people everywhere become free from suffering and enjoy lasting inner peace and happiness.

What to expect?
This is an online teaching by the Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Togden with a few brief pauses for meditation/reflection on the key points of his presentation. It lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Q&A session
Following the teaching Gen Togden will present several questions and answers related to his presentation, to further clarify how to practically integrate his advice in our daily life.

How should I prepare for this teaching?
Please try to set the time aside to be able to focus without distractions or interruptions, if at all possible. It is best to be somewhere you feel comfortable and to have a notebook or gadget for writing down what you don’t want to forget.

How to access it online?
Please register ahead of time to avoid technical problems. You will then receive a link and password by email the day before the teaching (or on the same day for last-minute registrations).  The session will begin streaming at 7pm and the link will continue to work for 48 hours, in case you weren’t able to watch it at the set time.

About the Teacher

Gen Kelsang Togden is a Buddhist monk and the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre London.

He began his studies of Modern Buddhism in Toronto, Canada, in 1993. Gen Togden realised that Kadampa Buddhism offers a complete path to enlightenment that is uniquely suitable to the people of this modern world and easy to integrate with our busy and often stressful lifestyle. For this reason he has dedicated himself to helping with the flourishing of this tradition throughout the world, having been a teacher of Modern Buddhism in numerous countries including the USA, Portugal, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina and even South Korea!

Gen Togden is loved and admired by his students because of his practical knowledge and warm presentations, authentic teachings, as well as his natural joy and sense of humour. He usually has a broad smile and a good heart, making effort to put everyone at ease and to help them solve their many problems and anxieties with practical Dharma advice.

Based on his wealth of life experience and personal understanding of the challenges we all face, Gen Togden has confidence that the teachings of Buddha presented by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (Geshe-la) have the actual power to address our concerns and transform our daily activities into a meaningful experience of the path to inner peace and enlightenment.

Heal Yourself and Others

We need healing, even if we are not actually sick at the moment. We all have emotional baggage and the potential for sickness and pain is always within us. Buddha realised this 2600 years ago and gave many teachings to help us heal ourself and others. We can learn to purify the underlying causes of suffering and help others do the same.

The Magic of Taking and Giving

There is a Buddhist meditation called “taking and giving” that is magical in its power to transform suffering into compassion, love and selflessness. By learning to practise taking and giving we can help ease the suffering of others and can transform our own problems into spiritual realisations. This practice is the very best friend we can have.
