About the event
Avalokiteshvara is an enlightened being who is the manifestation of the compassion of all Buddhas; An empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we connect to Avalokiteshvara, and receive powerful inspiration and blessings that awaken our own compassionate nature.
In this day course, Gen Chodor will grant the empowerment of Avalokiteshvara, and also give commentary to the meditation practice of “prayers and requests to the Buddha of Compassion”. This meditation practice is a unique, powerful, and Tantric method for developing universal love and compassion, and fulfilling the meaning of our precious human life.
“Developing compassion and wisdom, and helping those in need whenever possible, is the true meaning of human life. By increasing our compassion we come closer to enlightenment and to the fulfilment of our deepest wishes…when our mind is governed by compassion it is always at peace” – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in “How to Transform Your Life”.

Who is Buddha Avalokiteshvara?
The Compassion Buddha, the embodiment of the universal compassion of all enlightened beings. By relying upon Avalokiteshvara we naturally increase our own compassion. He usually appears as white in colour with four arms. His first two hands pressed together at his heart symbolize respect for his Spiritual Guide, and hold a jewel symbolizing his own enlightenment. His second left hand holds a white lotus flower, symbolizing his complete purity of body, speech and mind; and his second right hand holds a crystal mala, symbolizing that he can free all living beings from samsara.
