Training The Mind
Although we wish to be happy all the time, why do we find it so difficult to actually be happy? Our daily negative emotions of stress, anxiety, and worry are preventing us from experiencing the happiness we seek.
Happiness is not something we are either born with or not born with. It is something we can train in. To do so, we need to know what are the actual true causes of happiness. According to Buddha, authentic happiness does not depend upon amassing specific external conditions, such as wealth, beauty, status, good relationships etc., but the internal ingredient of inner peace. Happiness is a positive state of mind, a habit, and it can be strengthened through training in meditation.
In this half-day course, Gen Chodor will share simple meditation techniques that are designed to help us experience and maintain authentic happiness and how we can continue to train in happiness during our busy daily lives.
The Teacher
Gen Chodor is an English Buddhist Monk and the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre London. Ordained as a monk over 20 years ago, he has taught extensively in the UK and also in the US. He has a wealth of practical experience of Buddhas teachings and is loved for his warm and insightful presentations.
