About Tharpa Publications

Tharpa means ‘liberation’. Tharpa Publications was established by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche to benefit everyone by distributing Buddha’s wisdom throughout the world.

People definitely need wisdom to solve their problems. Normal education does not provide reliable methods to do this. By applying Buddha’s teachings in daily life we can develop real wisdom and solve all our problems.

Venerable Geshe-la has dedicated many years to writing qualified Dharma books on all aspects of Buddha’s teachings. Through his kindness and skill whoever reads these books will come to understand many things about their own potential and will naturally increase their wisdom. In writing these books he shows great generosity, not just to our own generation but to millions of people, generation after generation.

In dependence upon these books there are now many qualified Kadampa teachers, study programmes and over 1200 Kadampa centres and groups throughout the world, providing an unequaled network of support for those wishing to increase their wisdom.

Tharpa has grown into an international non-profit publisher serving in many languages and countries worldwide, fulfilling Venerable Geshe-la’s pure wish for Buddha’s teachings to touch people’s hearts and transform their lives.
